Omg I've found San Antonio tacos in Chicago. Their Barbacoa and flour tortillas are just right!
It's a cafeteria like setup so you have to order at the food bar, sit and then pay after your meal. It's a bit confusing if there isn't someone at the bar to greet you but it's self explanatory.
Refried beans are amazing.
Will be my go-to spot from now on. -

This rating is for the customer service and focus from ownership/management, i.e., from the mom, her son and his son. To be clear, this rating is not for the food nor the ladies behind the counter. Customer service, being truly customer-focused and standing behind your product while you make your customers satisfied takes effort, it's an art, not a science. There is no place for arrogance, being dismissive and standoff-ish, especially to long-term, loyal customers you see often and have never brought a problem to you. Mistakes are going to happen, SO OWN THEM, so show that you care about making your customers happy, not alienate them, because long-terms customers are what keeps your business open and thriving. It's all about the delivery of your message and making sure that you understand the consequence of mishandling your customers, whom you act like are trying to take advantage of you.
If you don't want to be there or feel customers are always trying to take advantage of you or otherwise, hire a manager who will protect your business and will professionally address customer issues and complaints.
My family and I have been coming for years; but, given the recent absolutely terrible customer service experience, we will reduce the number of visits and limit the items we order.
What happened? Ordered a dozen chicken tamales, as we've done for years, including year-end holidays, which always have a nice, balanced, subtle spice to them, so the spice builds as you continue to eat them = very enjoyable. For the first time, the spice is way beyond balanced and subtle. All you get is kicked in the mouth with overwhelming spice, no flavor. We call in and the server who answered said none of the owners were there, but they, naturally, have different people making the tamales, so that likely is what happened, someone made a mistake when they were being made. She gave info on when we should call back on another day. Called and got the son (not the young kid) and was told that is how they are made, they are spicy. He was dismissive. There was no asking who was calling or just a bring back and we'll replace. The message conveyed was: I'm sorry customer but you are wrong.
We haven't been back until today, I mention it again to the younger son, including the response received over the phone (from his dad). There is a guy standing next to the counter and says "They have outstanding customer service here" and I reply "Really?!, because that is not what I experienced." He responds with "I was being sarcastic" and laughs. I laugh too. The kid behind the counter hears all this and doesn't acknowledge or engage, nor does he try to respond to or defend the restaurants customer service, nor even say anything like "sorry, you experienced that, if it ever happens again, just bring them back... or here is a complimentary dozen, my apologies you had a bad experience, it's unfortunate that when we have different people making our food, mistakes can occur..." or something just to try to smooth things over. The kid just doesn't care and neither does his dad. He is off to taking the money from the next customer. So, I pay for my food and leave, which did not include any tamales and won't.
So, just as another reviewer mentioned, you cut off your nose to spite your face with long-term loyal customers. We all make mistakes; but, it takes caring and effort to acknowledge, own and rectify. Ownership/management just really doesn't care, so better hope you don't ever have a problem with your food. -

Last Friday I was in the mood for tacos. And I got them! I thought I would have enjoyed them more. I was expecting zesty, more spicy, more salt level. There's a lot of different kinds of Mexican food and folks flavor profile desires vary. I guess what I'm trying to say don't let my opinion on this place persuade you one way or the other. I thought it was interesting how my chicken taco came with the complete drumstick that was a new one.

I just wore a review and realized it was for the supermarket not the restaurant. In sum, it is great food. Go there. There is free parking. Eat breakfast tacos and customize with toppings, buy tortillas to go, and try the sweet tamales.
